KD7UHR RMS Packet Gateway offline

Due to a wiring/design error in my backup battery charging circuit, the smoke came out of my Kenwood TM-V71A radio during a backup power test. Consequently, my RMS Packet Gateway will be down until the radio can be repaired or replaced. Appropriately enough, the part labeled "D612 Surge Absorber" in the TM-V71A schematics sacrificed itself in the melee. I ordered the part and assuming it was the only component damaged in the incident, I should have the radio repaired by next weekend.

KF7RSF is REALLY going down this time!

Got it back up and eeked out a couple months of runtime thanks to very friendly new owners of the property.

Packing up the station and moving to a new location with severe challenges for antennas, so no idea if KF7RSF will return as a Gateway. All those who have listed this Gateway as a MPS need to delete and re-register a new choice for the future.

It has been fun, and hope to be back.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software.
