W7OWO-10 Now Has Automatic Battery Backup

Radios, Computers, and Network are all on automatic failover to battery on both the VHF and UHF stations.

W7OWO-10 is going through some upgrades. Outages will be expected.

Got a list of upgrades I'm doing which will produce (hopefully short) outages.

1) Adding UHF Capabilities.
With the antenna surrounded by trees, and they are starting to leaf out, I'm noticing the VHF can be attenuated at times. I will be migrating the current W7OWO-10 radio hardware to UHF at: 441.000 MHz for both VARA Wide mode and packet. Hoping to lessen the signal attenuation due to the trees. The replacement VHF frequency RMS may experience outages as I migrate the computer, radio equipment and configurations.

W7OWO-10 VARA FM Now Supports Wide Mode

Upgraded the Radio Sound Interface to a DRA-36.

In my testing with my client in Wide mode, I was able to work well with level 9 (14144 bps).

I tested my client in Narrow mode as well, and as advertised VARA FM on the RMS Station negotiated to Narrow Mode and had exchanges at levels of 9 (11162) and 10 (12750) during the test.

For the Packet TNC to support the PTT interfaces for the DRA-36, UZ7HO's SoundModem replaced Dire Wolf as the software TNC.
