Very happy to announce KK6DA-10, a VHF/UHF/220 gateway in central Los Angeles, has added an HF component scanning 40M, 30M, 20M, and 17M this month. An ICOM-7300 is paired with a B-Square terminated folded dipole at better than 30-feet which should provide excellent NVIS connectivity on lower frequencies, and longer sectional connectivity on the higher frequencies.
Earlier this month W7YAM-11 was upgraded it to be a dual mode gateway, supporting both PACKET and VARA FM. on 144.920 MHz. This week, RMS Relay was added and configured so that in case of internet outage the gateway will behave as a Post Office. During internet outages, messages for a recipient will be stored and can be received by the recipient when they connect to that gateway.
I have successfully placed a VARA FM gateway in operation in Interlachen, FL. Frequency is 144.990MHz. The digipeater is WB4UBK-7 and should be able to relay into the NF4RC-7 digipeater in Gainesville FL (a very high antenna location).
Next up is to setup an HF antenna in prepartation for an HF gateway. All equip0ment is 12 volt DC and will be powered with LiFePO4 battery and solar charging.
