ON4GS and ON4CO are on a DXpedition to St. Kilda Island (EU-059). They are updating their blog automatically with e-mails sent via the WINLINK system. A nice application! They are just using a FT-817 (5W) and a PTC-II modem.

HB9AK has got power backup with 4 12V lead-acid batteries of 145 Ah each. The new energy laws of Switzerland will lead to a very unreliable and intermittent electric power supply. We hope that this battery backup will help to counter power downs when sun is not shining and wind is not blowing...
The new 10m RMS HB9AK-1 is now operational on Hoernli mountain (JN47LI, 1130m asl). It provides PACTOR1-4 and WINMOR operation. It is expected to cover large parts of Switzerland as well as neighbouring regions of France, Germany and Austria.
Equipment is: ICOM IC-706, PACTOR MODEM DR-7400, vertical dipole.
The installation has a backup power supply with 4 12V batteries of 140 Ah each.
