WA7TPB-10 In Local Server Mode for the Weekend

Hello to the group,

The internet back-haul connection for the WA7TPB-10 VHF Winlink Gateway has been temporarily disconnected, in preparation for a COMEX over the weekend. The purpose is to give members of the Jefferson County ARES organization an opportunity to experience message handling when the system is in local-server mode (i.e., post office mode). The internet will be reconnected, most likely the following Monday.

WA7TPB-10 Winlink RMS off the Air

Hello to the group,

Many of you are aware that there is a very strong geomagnetic storm taking place. As a precautionary measure, the WA7TPB-10 Winlink system at the Port Townsend Firehouse has been temporarily shut down to avoid any possible damage to the components.

The system will be reactivated as soon as the planetary K-index falls to normal levels (see www.spaceweather.com).

Sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S.> I hope you had a chance to see the beautiful aurora last night.

WA7TPB-10 Back on the Air

As planned, WA7TPB-10 has moved to a new location in Port Townsend. The antenna is now mounted on the fire station radio tower at the 45 foot level, and HamWAN is the internet backhaul. The system is working well.
