Dominican Republic signs Winlink Communications Agreement for Emergencies.

On February 11, the DOMINICAN INSTITUTE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS (INDOTEL) and the EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER (COE) together in disaster prevention and mitigation signed an agreement that will formalize the use of the bands and the means used in case of a disaster

The event held at the Emergency Operations Center is General Juan Manuel Mendez by (COE) and Mr. Nelson Guillen after signing the document highlighted the important work of amateur radios and the support they receive from the community during and after Any disaster event.

The document commits radio amateurs to the use of the WINLINK system as a means of transferring information to and from the Dominican Republic, activating local transmissions and supporting other organizations such as DOMINICAN RED CROSS, CIVIL DEFENSE, COE, among others

El pasado 11 de Febrero el INSTITUTO DOMINICANO DE LAS TELECOMUNICACIONES (INDOTEL) y el CENTRO DE OPERACIONES DE EMERGENCIAS (COE) unidos en la prevención y mitigación de desastre firmaron un acuerdo que va a formalizar el uso de las bandas y los medios utilizados en caso de un desastre.

El evento celebrado en el Centro de operaciones de emergencias es General Juan Manuel Mendez por (COE) y El señor Nelson Guillen luego de la firma del documento resaltaron la labor importante de los radios aficionados y el apoyo que reciben de la comunidad durante y luego de cualquier evento de desastre.

El documento compromete a los radio aficionados del uso del sistema de WINLINK como medio de transferencia de información desde y hacia la República Dominicana, activar las transmisiones locales y el apoyo a los demás organismos como CRUZ ROJA DOMINICANA, DEFENSA CIVIL, COE, entre otros

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software. They all work together to keep the Winlink system running smoothly. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers, authors and developers who contribute to the Winlink system.
