It was discovered the replacement radio failed regularly to auto power on after power restoration after an outage. I was able to discover and fixed the older radio's problem with the cable's fuse attachment. So after several weeks of bench testing it, I deployed it yesterday with what I had originally thought was a failed radio. The sound card was replaced with a DigRig lite, so some tuning at its location from what had been optimized on the work bench. This will be performed from the Newberg EOC in the near future when I am sure there are no inversions messing with propagation.

On the work bench the radio was found to still deliver 65 watts into a dummy load. Dummy load to dummy load transfers on VARA FM Narrow were regularly found be at speed levels 9 and 10.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software.
