W6SCF-10 operational

W6SCF-10 is back up as of early Thursday evening.

The computer threw up a dialog box after booting, expecting a response before remote administration launched. It required plugging in a local monitor and keyboard to hit "return" to continue. Honestly; I am disappointed.

W6SCF-10 is down

W6SCF-10 has been unavailable since late afternoon April 19. KBLKM, W6SCF-7, continues to digipeat so KC6SSM-10, K2RDX-10 and KE6AFE-10 may be accessed from our covered area.

The computer was accessed remotely and had Windows updates pending. The update process was started manually but the computer did not return to normal operation. After waiting an hour the computer was remotely re-started and again failed to return to normal operation. A site visit is scheduled for later today.

NCS521 Ant. improvement

Finally found an adjustment to antenna length that allows the lowest band to tune properly. Tired of listening to the relays chatter as it vainly attempted a match. Should be able to relay more effectively now.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software. They all work together to keep the Winlink system running smoothly. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers, authors and developers who contribute to the Winlink system.
