Mexican Amateur Radio Volunteers Provide Communication in Wildfire Response

Mexican radio amateurs provided communication support in late May from a fire scene in a remote area to civil protection authorities in Monterrey, Mexico. Two-member teams of volunteers were flown in via helicopter since May 20, the first day of radio support, when the fire had already been burning for a couple of days. The fire in Pajonal -- about 20 kilometers south of Monterrey -- covered more than 200 acres in rough terrain. Temperatures topped 100 °F.

HI8COE Republic of Dominica gateway 40 meter change

Had to change the 40 meter channel so as not to interfere with a net.
Requested by local operators.

Reason I post the info here is many at sea are using HI8COE, Republic of Dominica gateway.

So want to get the word out to the maritime community.

Center 7068.0 - All modes.

W5WSR Site down for move

My HF winlink Site will be down for approx. 2 months for house move. I will still be 50 miles south of Houston on the coast. Need to get tower down and reinstalled at new house.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software.
