W7YAM-10 Packet Gateway Has been Reset Back To Normal Operations

After completion of the up Oregon ARES S.E.T., Yamhill Couny ARES' W7YAM-10 RMS Packet station located on Eola Hills that was temporarily configured to be strictly in Post Office mode to simulate an Internet outage has now been reset to normal operations. All received messages will then be transferred to the CMS for distribution when ever the internet is present. If there is an internet outage, it will switch to Mailbox mode where recipients can retrieve mail from this gateway, or wait for recovery of the internet and mail will again be forwarded to CMS.

W6SCF Serving Email To Fire Station During PSPS Outage

La Honda Fire sponsored South Coast CERT team,SC4ARES Ham radio members and firefighters continue to stand vigilant at the La Honda Fire DOC. Their service is invaluable during the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutdown.
SC4ARES has stood up a Winlink station to provide email via amateur radio to the fire station during the long, wired internet outage.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software.
