W4UVA-10 moving to new site

The W4UVA-10 gateway will be installed tomorrow at the Bucks Elbow public safety radio site in western Albemarle County. The site is at about 3200 feet with a commanding view of most of the county. This new location should provide significantly improved VHF/UHF Winlink service to Central Virginia.

Standard Forms Library and Non-Standard Forms

The Winlink Development Team announces the streamlining of the Standard Forms library. Several forms and form packs have been moved from the Standards Form library to an online repository for individual download.

The benefits of this move are

Smaller Standard Forms library and therefore quicker download
Standard Forms library has become easier to use
Fewer Standard Forms library updates needed
Customization options in Global Folder forms

W7OWO-10 is going through some upgrades. Outages will be expected.

Got a list of upgrades I'm doing which will produce (hopefully short) outages.

1) Adding UHF Capabilities.
With the antenna surrounded by trees, and they are starting to leaf out, I'm noticing the VHF can be attenuated at times. I will be migrating the current W7OWO-10 radio hardware to UHF at: 441.000 MHz for both VARA Wide mode and packet. Hoping to lessen the signal attenuation due to the trees. The replacement VHF frequency RMS may experience outages as I migrate the computer, radio equipment and configurations.
