WB4SON-10 Switching to new miniPC

WB4SON-10 will be down for an hour or so starting at 17:15 UTC June 13, 2021.

This is to allow for a switchover to a miniPC. When back on the air, WB4SON-10 Wide VARA FM Gateway will consist of the following:
Alinco DR-135T MkIII on 145.050 MHz
Master's Communications DRA-50 (with Alinco Adapter)
ACEPC AK2 miniPC (8GB RAM, 120GB Flash, Win10 Pro on a Quad Core 1.5 MHz Celeron)
Samlex SEC-1223BBM auto battery changeover power supply
100 AH Solar Charged Battery backup

WB4SON-10 Changing Radios

The WB4SON-10 VARA FM Gateway will be down for an hour or so to swap out the radio. I'm trying an Alinco DR-135 Mk III, which should become the full-time radio once I have it working.

Expect the gateway to go down at 14:50UTC Jun 13 and to return later in the day.

WB4SON-10 up and running again

Hum, never "guess" Windows updates will only take a few minutes!

After a coupled of stalled updates, 2 hours later, the gateway is back on the air

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software. They all work together to keep the Winlink system running smoothly. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers, authors and developers who contribute to the Winlink system.
