WB4SON-10 Down/Up Today for Windows Updates

WB4SON-10 has been up for 38 days continuously, and has built up the usual backlog of Microsoft updates, as well as an update for VARA FM. This afternoon, WB4SON-10 will be up and down several times to accomplish the updates. They should be done by 18:00 UTC

WB4SON-10 Off Air due to ISP Issues

WB4SON-10 VARA-FM Gateway was down last night from about 12:01 AM until about 11:30 AM. Internet service has been restored.

Likely due to flash flooding in the area from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

WB4SON-10 was off air due to Henri

Sorry to say that I lost my VHF antenna during Hurricane Henri, as well as street power. I had a new antenna up today about 30 hours after the node went down.

Henri is moving through the area again, if you can believe it, spawning a few F0 tornados along with the usual bands of rain and T-storms. Fingers crossed that we remain up and operating.

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software. They all work together to keep the Winlink system running smoothly. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers, authors and developers who contribute to the Winlink system.
