Upgrade to VARA FM 4.0.1 for W7PLC-10

W7PLC-10 is now running VARA FM V 4.0.1 on 144.950MHz. It is not backward compatible with earlier versions. To connect you must update to 4.0.1.

W7PLC Hybrid Gateway Station.

W7PLC Hybrid Gateway Station. 9/23/2020
2 years ago I started with a basic packet station, computer, KPC-3+ and a FT-2900R feeding a 7.8dB gain VHF vertical antenna. This worked fine for a while until I realized there was a need for a Gateway station in West Olympia.
I downloaded and installed RMS Packet and RMS Trimode. This gave users internet access via my VHF radio which was parked on 145.630MHz. With good coverage and lots of users, I decided to upgrade to a Hybrid station, adding HF to the mix. I also have a good, stable Comcast internet connection.

W7PLC now a hybrid

W7PLC is now a hybrid gateway running a Kenwood TS-2000 into an end fed wire. Scanning 3586.9, 7101.9, 10146.3, 14110.4, 18108.7 ARDOP and VARA HF 2300

Outstanding Volunteers

The Winlink system is run entirely by volunteers. Those called Gateway Station Sysops, who support and run over a thousand stations around the world, are special. They are essential for providing the radio network that allows us to use Winlink radio email. Without them, there is no Winlink. If you use Winlink radio email, make sure to thank your sysops by sending them an email to their RMSCALLSIGN-at-winlink.org address.You can find their contact information by mousing over their call sign on the RMS List tab here.

Apart from the Gateway Station Sysops and Development Team, there are other volunteers that run e-mail groups and tutorials, manage user accounts, register software, update the network's assets and catalogs, test and debug products, provide training, and independently write software. They all work together to keep the Winlink system running smoothly. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers, authors and developers who contribute to the Winlink system.
