All things eventually come to an end, and the incredibly reliable VISTA Windows Computer that ran this SHARES station for maybe half a decade or more -- often going MONTHS without any need for rebooting....has finally been retired. A spare Windows 10 computer has replaced it so that the latest greatest DOT NET can be loaded. That computer BRICKS if Microsoft gets their way and updates it to 20H2 (been there, done that, TWICE) so I figured out how to avoid that catastrophe.
AD6DM-10 Winlink RMS station supports VARA FM and packet. It is powered by solar offgrid power, OSJ J-Pole up 21ft, 20 watts. It is located in CM98hj. Thanks to Walnut Creek CERT, NC6J, and K6AQ for informative instruction in getting this station up.
For the next 24 hours, the internet connection to the WA7TPB-10 RMS will be disconnected. The purpose is to give the Clallam County ARES group an opportunity to practice posting and retrieving messages under simulated emergency conditions.
