The Last Voice from Kuwait
WANE-TV/CBS News Documentary, 1991
One of the most important uses of Winlink's earliest incarnation, Aplink, began with the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, leading to the 1990 Gulf War. This CBS documentary, "The last Voice from Kuwait" spearheaded by WANE-TV Manager Frank Moore, WA1URA, chronicles the heroic action of Abduljabbar Marafie, 9K2DZ, a Kuwaiti Ham, and a team of Amateur Aplink operators, the USS Kennedy, and the Department of Defense. Marafie has been called 'the Nathan Hale of Kuwait."
