Tower calamity at K6CYC

On Saturday, the lifting cable on the older K6CYC tower failed causing the tower to free fall straight down. The resultant impact destroyed the TX34A beam on that tower.

No one was hurt and the other antennas were not affected. We have a new Force 12 C4E beam on order to replace the failed antenna. Winlink service will not be significantly impacted as I have temporarily moved the beam frequencies to a backup R8 vertical antenna. The 3595.0 frequency will be off-air until the tower is repaired, however. I have attached a picture of the result...

Update on 10/01/2008: The new tower, rotor and beam will be online October 6, 2008.
