3B8DU station closing permanently

Dear All,

My Winlink station has been up for a few years but with much traffic and none for the past 2 years, thus not really worth keeping all the equipment for that purpose as may be better used for other activities.

I therefore decided to close the operations.

It was a great experience and I am quite proud to have routed 2 sailboats out of danger from cyclones and one send me a message stating "without you I would have been a bundle of sticks", so great to have been somehow helpful to fellow seafarers.

3B8DU Intermittent

Sent a previous post which seems to have vanished.

Sending again a new version:

Dear All,

Happy new year 2020 to all,

3B8DU RMS have been 24/7 active for a few years, but unfortunately due to moving to a new QTH in LG89ux (previous was LG89sq) in the North of 3B8, and due to many software upgrades (Microsoft...) unattended but also due that on old QTH I have no UPS, thus reboot at each power cut which was due to bad weather this side (cyclones).

I therefore request any user for the inconvenience caused to accept my apologies.

3B8DU, REUNION ISLAND (FR) INDIAN OCEAN CONNECTED ON WINMOR

Good Evening,

Congratulations to Yvon, FR1GZ, to have connected Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean (French territory 200 KM West of Mauritius) to WINMOR through 3B8DU RMS today.

Also thanks to Bernard, KC9SGV, who has triggered all this WINMOR initiative this side of the globe.

We have now 4 Hams, 3B8CW, 3B8FA, FR1GZ and myself connected on WINOR in the region, this is about 10% of the Islands Ham population (hi-score Hi!).
